    Portraits

I paint people when commissioned, and often just for my own pleasure. When I choose to paint a person the reasons often escape my conscious understanding; like when I painted Stalin, Mazzini, or Louis XV for instance. Always I feel an urge to know these people more closely ... so I paint them, all the while letting my thoughts imagine and sometimes inhabit "them". Below are Frida Kahlo, friends Ellen F. and Reyes, then a panoply of characters from last year's Greece crisis, an event which involved me emotionally. And ... many others.
